- Institute for Health and Social Science Research involved in Stress Less Day

As part of awareness raising activities planned for Mental Health Awareness Week this week, staff members from our Institute for Health and Social Science Research (IHSSR) will join with a number of mental health service providers, taking part in Stress Less Day on Wednesday October 13.
This is the second consecutive year that staff from the Institute have been directly involved in running a stall at the Stress Less Day event.

Susan Hurcum's job fell victim to off-shoring in the IT industry so she's embarked on a 'sea change' with a Biological Science degree from CQUniversity.
The Sydney resident was among 10 students who attended a four-day residential school and field trip to Great Keppel Island recently, as part of their third-year course Coastal Marine Resources.

The launch of the CQUniversity's new community relations program - CQCircle - took place at the Harvard Lecture Theatre on the Rockhampton Campus recently.
Designed to celebrate and strengthen connections between financial supporters, long-serving staff (20+ years service), honorary awardees, and University Council, Foundation and Campus Advisory committee members, over 80 attendees were entertained by Vice-Chancellor Professor Scott Bowman.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Scott Bowman has accepted the Central Queensland Medal for Management Excellence at this year's Management Excellence Awards Rockhampton Region Finals, held at Kershaw House on Friday October 8.
Meanwhile, long-serving Rockhampton Campus academic Dr Leone Hinton was announced as the Professional Manager of the Year, with professional staff member Jo Miller also among the finalists for this Australian Institute of Management awards category.

CQUniversity researcher Professor Paul Rodan is among featured speakers for a Brisbane seminar addressing 'The Perfect Storm' gathering around the international education sector.
As Director of our International Education Research Centre, Professor Rodan will share the stage with The Australian newspaper's Higher Education editor Julie Hare, leading international mediation lawyer Khory McCormick, State MP Grace Grace and QUT Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International and Development) Professor Scott Sheppard.

CQUniversity has sponsored and hosted a who's who of regional leaders for the Capricorn Innovation Leadership Forum, in conjunction with Capricorn Tourism and Economic Development (CTEDL).
More than 100 participants at the Rockhampton Campus venue heard from inspirational speakers, discussed ideas for cross-sectoral collaboration and signed a special 'CQ Innovation Accord', committing them to consider innovation when making policy decisions, with a pledge to ensure CQ is known and recognised as Australia's premier 'Region of Innovation'.

Alumnus Sarah Benaud has turned a diverse career background, including 20 years in the 'rag trade', into a promising teaching career, after topping her Bachelor of Learning Management degree cohort (Secondary/Vocational Education and Training) at Noosa.
Currently a Hospitality and Tourism teacher at Tully State High in Far North Queensland, Sarah has achieved a Business Liason Association special award for her contribution to vocational training and is a finalist in the Queensland College of Teachers
