CQU is helping Rockhampton district high school students to get a taste of what a career as an entrepreneurial web developer would be like.
Experienced staff at CQU are mentoring the students as they develop a real web-based career resource for use by local youth and the community.

Around 125 delegates from Australia and overseas flocked to the International Symposium on Shiftwork and Working Time, hosted by CQU at Yeppoon from August 28-31.
CQ regional managers also had a chance to tap into the visiting expertise during 2 special workshops arranged on August 27.

The Association of Tertiary Education Management Inc (ATEM) is considering a new structure under which CQU members would be part of a tropical region, also including Charles Darwin University and James Cook University.
ATEM is the professional association for managers and administrators working in tertiary education, particularly in Australia and New Zealand.

Canada's Louv will address the delegates via videoconference about links between the lack of nature in the lives of today's wired generation and some of the most disturbing childhood trends, such as obesity, attention disorders, and depression.

- Psycho-Social Health program explores cancer therapy steriod use

The CQU-based International Program of Psycho-Social Health Research (IPP-SHR) is undertaking a study to explore the link between steroid use in cancer therapy and negative psychiatric and emotional side effects.
This pilot study is a response to anecdotal reports by health professionals and patients that steroids, whilst playing an important role in the treatment of cancers, result in a range of distressing psychological side effects.
