Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

  • Mackay gets a taste of opera

    CQUniversity Mackay's Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music is presenting England's first ever opera, Dido and Aeneas, from 1pm and 8pm on Friday, September 18.

    Written 320 years ago by Henry Purcell, the work will be presented in concert by the Bachelor of Music and some Bachelor of Theatre students.

  • Burlesque comedy troupe a 'formidable' follow-up

    CQUniversity Theatre lecturer Kim Kirkman has guided the formation of operatic boy bands, the dinner-suited Ten Tenors and Formidable, but his latest project is sure to ruffle a few feathers (or feather boas).

    Kim is producer of Burlesque comedy troupe The Velveteens, working with Theatre student performers Casey Eidintas, Stephanie McKenna and Jessica Peters (performer and manager), from the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music in Mackay.
