Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

  • Artist's work auctioned to help Indigenous students

    CQUniversity's donation of a framed poster to a fundraising auction recently has contributed to $250,000 raised in support of indigenous education.

    CQUniversity's Multimedia Studies student Luke Mallie's poster (which recently won him the 2009 National NAIDOC Poster competition), was donated to indigenous organisation Yalari and auctioned at last month's  fundraising dinner in Brisbane.

    Dr Pierre Viljoen, Head of Campus CQUniversity Gladstone, has been appointed Pro Vice-Chancellor (Community and Engagement) and Head of Campus Mackay, it was announced by CQUniversity Vice-Chancellor and President Scott Bowman.

    Dr Viljoen, Pierre, at Gladstone since 2006, was a driving force behind Gladstone community initiatives to foster and facilitate education pathways.
