Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

    Twenty teams and about 60 participants got involved in the 6th annual CQ Junior Robotics Competition, held at Rockhampton's DPI Conference Centre recently (June 13).

    The competition caters for primary and high school competitors in the robot soccer, robot dance and robot rescue categories.

    She enrolled herself in the CQUniversity course Getting Started in Chinese Language, offered through the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Education.

    Historian Steve Mullins is about to travel halfway around the world to the Isle of Cumbrae, near Glasgow in Scotland, to begin the task of unravelling an intriguing story of New Guinea's early colonial history.

    In a small local museum off the coast of Scotland, he will be given access to a 120-page manuscript written by Andrew Goldie, probably in 1881.
