Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

  • Teachers can hear from experts on tech-age learning

    Residents of Rockhampton, Mackay, Gladstone, Bundaberg and Emerald are welcome to attend free presentations by visiting experts about  the challenges of teaching in our increasingly technological age.

    Professor Kerri-Lee Krause, Director of the Griffith Institute for Higher Education, will talk about enhancing engagement by first-years, from 1pm-2pm on Monday, August 20.

  • Students excited about chance to live in Japan

    Six CQU students are excited about the opportunity to live in Japan for 3 months as part of the University Mobility in the Asia Pacific (UMAP) program.

    The federal government-funded program will enable them to boost their language skills, while experiencing local customs and the lifestyle of the city of Komatsu.
