Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

  • Spanish language classes promoted

    Spanish class members and their teacher Dora Dixon recently attended Rockhampton's multicultural festival at the Heritage Village to promote the availability of language lessons at CQUniversity.

    Spanish classes currently run on Monday (intermediate), Tuesday (beginners) and Thursday (advanced) evenings, with the term due to finish on September 18.

    CQUniversity's Regional Centre of the Arts encourages the development of all forms of the Arts in Central Queensland.

    The Centre provides a liaison role between CQUniversity and the Arts communities of Central Queensland and recommends to the Vice-Chancellor proposed budgets for grants to support approved arts projects.

    Josh, a graduate of CQUniversity's Graduate Diploma in Teaching and Learning, is the new visual arts teacher at Monto State High School.

    The annual Tour de Freedom invites cyclists from all over Australia to endure a 5-day journey to help raise funds for a new charity project.
