Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

     Another string to Ana's bow

    CQUniversity Communications graduate and busy musician Ana Stevenson now has another string to her bow as she progresses into an Honours year at the University of Queensland in 2009.

    The Rockhampton student has been successful in a competitive process to achieve a Summer Research Scholarship, involving a supervised research project at the Australian National University in December and January.

    The event led by the Division of Marketing featured themed stalls, refreshments and entertainment and there were plenty of staff available to answer visitors' queries.

    An enthusiastic bunch turned out for this week's (Oct 27) Pink Ribbon Breakfast at Capricornia College dining hall at Rockhampton Campus.

    The breakfast raises awareness of men and women's breast cancer and funds for research, through the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF).
