Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Patient start for nursing students from overseas 

Nursing students who have come from overseas got in early with their orientation process this week at CQUniversity Rockhampton.

Part of the assimilation process was learning not to worry about harmless Aussie versions of somewhat robust English words and phrases that they might hear around the wards.

The group being coached by Jennifer Anastasi included David Kariega from Kenya, Ryan Raymond Chua from the Philippines, Khousboo Ajodha from Mauritius and Di Yang from China.

Ryan's wife Kristy Chua came along to the session for support and Anna from Indonesia (a second-year student) also contributed.
