CQUniversity's first-ever Opal Awards for community engagement have gone to recipients based at the Mackay, Bundaberg and Rockhampton campuses.
The Opal Awards celebrate those who build relationships that support the development of sustainable communities and an equally sustainable CQUniversity.
The category winners were the Choices Applied Theatre Project team (Judith Brown, Lisa McKay, Sean Perez and Katelyn Ryan) based at Mackay Campus, Dr Surya Bhattarai's Make That Water Work project based in Rockhampton and Bundaberg's MIST Conference project (Wendy Fasso, Marg Flanders and Rosie Thrupp).
The winners received opal pins as a momento of the award. Prizes were presented by Dr Pierre Viljoen, the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Community and Engagement) and Head of Campus Mackay.
