"He has taken an active interest in the University over many years and was always enthusiastic about our strong links to the Central Queensland community.

"In addition to the special presentation of the University's Honorary Doctorate award at Dr Gold's home with his close family and friends just a couple of weeks ago, we also saw Dr Gold very recently on campus when he and his wife Norma attended the farewell function of retiring Vice-Chancellor, Professor John Rickard.

"Dr Gold's positive influence will be remembered perpetually through his philanthropic gifts to the University in support of our mission and the difference the University makes to the lives of individuals and communities.

"We will miss his leadership, wisdom and  humour and pay tribute to the contribution he has made to so many people in Central Queensland."
