Bachelor of Professional Communication student Kate Robertson gets real project experience"I've really enjoyed working with Michelle and the staff at CQLGA and I have learnt a lot. I've definitely developed some valuable skills," Kate said.
The ProfCom student is aspiring to make a career in Public Relations and Marketing and believes she will benefit from the work experience at CQLGA.
"Public Relations is really important to businesses and in this case local councils, and being able to put into practice what I have learnt at Uni as well as gaining industry experience, is beneficial for my career," she said.
"I have been developing a communication plan for the promotion of the Low Carbon Diet, including writing media releases, selecting appropriate media to promote the program and developing a promotional timeline for Michelle and CQLGA to utilise when they roll out the program."
Michelle Roberts said that CQLGA is working closely with CQUniversity to assist in students' career development and also to gain assistance in community programs, such as the Low Carbon Diet.
"CQLGA values the quality of work done by CQUniversity students, and we see it as an investment in Central Queensland's future. CQUniversity together with CQLGA provides many opportunities for students to do work experience and this will result in skilled people being available to work in Central Queensland," said Ms Roberts.
The CQLGA supports the 5 councils in Central Queensland including Rockhampton, Gladstone, Central Highlands and Isaac Regional Councils, as well as the Banana Shire Council and provides an avenue for the councils to share experiences and ideas, to seek regional support and to allow councils to gather information and form views at a regional level.
