Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

The guest speaker was Shelley Nowlan, the Director of Nursing/Facility Manager for the Sunshine Coast - Wide Bay Health Service District at the Sunshine Coast Caloundra Health Service.

The 4 visitors from the Philippines* who took part in the academic procession were visiting CQUniversity Noosa and the wider Sunshine Coast for 10 days at the time of graduation.

This was the final Australian graduation ceremony to be officiated by Vice-Chancellor Professor John Rickard, before his retirement at the end of July. Chancellor Rennie Fritschy also officiated.

A total of 114 graduates attended the ceremony, including Bachelor of Learning Management (Primary) graduate Reece Toomey, who delivered the closing address on behalf of graduates. LINK to Reece Toomey's address
