Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Noosa hosts first graduations under new CQUniversity brand

Noosa has hosted the first graduation under Central Queensland University's new brand - CQUniversity Australia.

The brand change was launched during a function at the University's Goodchap Street facility on the same day as the Noosa graduations.

The graduation ceremonies were held at the Australis Noosa Lakes in Noosaville, with 90 graduates attending 2 ceremonies.

The Chancellor Rennie Fritschy and Vice-Chancellor Professor John Rickard officiated both ceremonies.

Sunshine Coast Regional Councillor Lew Brennan is guest speaker for the afternoon event, while Jenny McDonald - the Chief Executive Officer of Nambour Selangor and Caloundra Private Hospitals - is guest speaker in the evening.

CQUniversity also confered the Honorary Award of Companion of the University on Councillor Lew Brennan and also Rob McAlpine, the Acting Regional Executive Director (Sunshine Coast region) for Education Queensland .

Delivering the closing addresses on behalf of the graduates were Brigitte Kath and Carlie Nicholls.

Donna Car received the Faculty of Arts, Humanities & Education Prize during the afternoon ceremony.
