Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

CQUni duo's DVD provides road-map to learning success 

CQUniversity's Associate Professor Alison Owens* and Adjunct Research Fellow Susan Loomes have recently produced a DVD providing A road-map to learning success in the Australian university culture...

The DVD has been specifically designed to assist international students achieve greater social integration, with a focus on improving their understanding of Australian culture, a need that CQUniversity students have recently expressed in student surveys.

The DVD covers a range of topic areas such as: Finding your place; Teaching and learning in an Australian University environment; How to be successful in university studies, Staying safe while studying in Australia and  Australian culture for international students.

It will be previewed and promoted during Orientation, remain available to students at any time online (LINK HERE to view the new video) and then be further reinforced using vodcast (video - podcasts) to student mobile telephones at regular intervals over term, allowing them to access and absorb this information at their own convenience.
