Maths-loving Danielle finds OP1 adds up to reward

Maths-loving Danielle Kerr-Upton, of Rockhampton, is among a select group of OP1 students who will be rewarded for choosing a CQUniversity degree.

The University has approved scholarships to relieve the HECS-HELP burden for OP1 students who choose to study full-time on campus in the Central Queensland region.

This initiative will not only reward excellence but also recognises that high-achievers who study locally are more likely to remain to work in their home region, thus boosting the talent pool for Central Queensland.

Danielle plans to enrol in a Co-op Engineering degree, meaning she can look forward to periods of paid employment within relevant industries as part of her studies.

She says she is particularly interested in electricial engineering and power engineering, drawing on her strengths in mathematics and physics.

The high-achiever says she is looking forward to Orientation and is really keen to start tertiary studies in her home town, where she has family support.

Proud mum Dianne Upton, herself a CQUni graduate, supported Danielle by sharing her own keys to success: determination, organisation and motivation. Danielle adopted these qualities throughout her schooling at The Rockhampton Grammar School, and is looking forward to applying these qualities at CQUni.

"Danielle has always been keen on maths, even when quite young. At 10 years of age, Danielle was requesting additional maths books to keep her entertained during the school holidays!" Dianne commented.

Danielle says that, apart from mathematics, she has also been keen on acting, having studied speech and drama over the years.
