Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

ROCKon Friday to showcase and GANGgajang 

Tickets are still available to Friday night's ROCKon Song Awards showcase and GANGgajang* performance at Rockhampton's Pilbeam Theatre.

The CQUniversity-sponsored ROCKon Music Summit, including seminars, workshops and performances, runs from Friday through to Sunday at various venues.

University talent to be featured includes:

- Screening of 'A Piss in the Ocrean', an independent short film on the influence of punk in Rockhampton's indy music scene, produced by Dr Jim Douglas and Peter Lawrence;

- Live music by CQUniversity jazz and contemporary musicians;

- Dr Grayson Cooke presents an audio-reactive visual experience using extracts from Hitchcock films.
