Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Jazz pianist heads bill for Rocky's 'Big Night In 2'

Brisbane-based Jazz pianist Viv Middleton heads the bill for Rockhampton's ‘Big Night In 2', scheduled for 7.30pm on Friday August 6 at CQUniversity.
 
Middleton will perform alongside the CQUniversity Jazz Orchestra, staff performers and a variety of jazz and popular ensembles from the Bachelor of Music program.

Organiser Dr Derrin Kerr said the visiting jazz pianist is a former head of the Queensland Conservatorium of Music jazz program.
 
"Viv has performed with major national and international artists and is known in the industry as being a master of the repertoire of jazz and popular music," Dr Kerr said.

Tickets will be available at the door on the night, with details via 4930 9640.

The concert is supported by ABC Radio Capricornia.
