Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Noosa graduates find employment fast 

Most of the 90 graduates who attended the Noosa ceremony last week have already found employment.

Nursing lecturer Marc Broadbent said all of the nursing graduates are currently working.

He attributed this success to the current demand for nurses, but also to the quality of the graduates.

"The number of students who graduated with distinction is a testimony to the quality of students we've got here," he said.

The graduation ceremony was the 8th for CQUniversity Noosa.

Guest speaker at the ceremony was education expert and Education Queensland's Executive Director for School Improvement Dr Suzanne Innes.

Dr Innes' responsbility covers 44 education sites, more than 1600 staff and over 27,000 students. She has worked as a teacher, principal and consultant over the years and is widely known for her expertise in the education sector. PhotoID:9178, Noosa graduation 2010

Delivering the graduate address will be Melinda Ford who will graduate from the Bachelor of Learning Management (Early Childhood) program.
