Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

    CQU Rockhampton's graduation on Tuesday evening (March 4) included honours for an education leader, an inspirational teacher and a prominent broadcaster and 260 graduates crossed the stage to receive their degrees.

    The degree of Honorary Doctor of Education was conferred on Joe McCorley for his distinguished career as a teacher, educational administrator and leader.

    CQU drama students have been getting tips this week from Australian stage and screen regular Dene Kermond, during his visit to Rockhampton for intensive classes.
     
    Dene has been working with students enrolled in the Bachelor of Performing Arts degree before returning in May/June for more intensive classes leading to public showcase performances.
