- Student mentors needed for 2008

CQU Student Services is busy recruiting students for the 2008 Student Mentor and Leadership program.
About 300 student mentors will be required to assist new students on all our regional campuses and those studying via distance to settle into study.

CQU first-year nursing student and Pinefest entrant Caitlyn Flint will put her money where her dreams lay after raising about $2000 for the Edmund Rice charity for disadvantaged children in Yeppoon.
Despite being unsuccessful in her bid to be the Pinefest Charity Ambassador on the weekend, Caitlyn has made a big difference for some of Yeppoon's most needy children.

Central Queensland University has applauded the Federal Government's announcement (October 3) that it will provide $5 million towards a $9 million Mining Simulator Research, Development and Training Centre at the Mackay campus.
In Mackay on Wednesday, Deputy Prime Minister Mark Vaile said the funding would make Mackay a world leader in safe, high-tech mining training.
- 'Best paper' on community wellbeing a partnership project

A best paper award for a project on 'Measuring Community Wellbeing: A Central Queensland Case Study' was based on a project partnership between CQU and a State Government department.
The paper won the Best Conference Paper Award at the Australia and New Zealand Regional Science Association International (ANZRSAI) Inc conference held in New Zealand during September.
