Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

  • Budding Tarantino wins Fringe Film competition

    CQU Business/Marketing student Jason Gibson is making his mark on the local creative arts scene, with his gangster and heist-themed short films.

    Last year, he got a certificate of commendation for a gangster-style flick 'The Takers' and this year he won the $1000 first prize at the 2007 Rocky Fringe Short Film Competition and Festival for a film about a theft from a hotel, entitled 'False Reflections'.

    CQU's Brisbane graduation features 151 students from more than 30 countries, ranging from China and India to Bosnia and Herzegovina and Bahrain.

    The event will be held from 2pm on Wednesday September 5 at the Sebel and Citigate Presidential Ballroom.

    The guest speaker will be CQU Adjunct Professor Paul Rodan*, who is the Director, Academic Policy and Research for the Australian International Campuses of Central Queensland University.
