- Campuses host birthing kit assembly teams

In a joint project with Zonta International, CQUniversity campuses have hosted volunteers assembling thousands of birthing kits destined for remote villages in Papua New Guinea.
The simple kits contain all the necessary items for a clean safe birth, which Zonta believes is the right of every woman.

After a few twists and turns with study and career choices, Jo Coppard is happy with her role as Database Technical Officer with Anglo American Metallurgical Coal and is on track to be our first Associate Diploma of Geoscience graduate.
Jo says she has enjoyed the ability to study externally while working in the field of study "as there is always someone willing to explain or show you what the textbooks and the lecturers are trying to get across".

CQUniversity Melbourne has celebrated the success of 16 high-achieving Term 1 2010 students*, during a gathering on September 21.
The honoured students shared a few tears of joy with their lecturers while receiving their commendation letter from the State Director (Victoria), Darryl Stewart.

An unusual geological event will take place soon in Mackay, according to scientists familiar with the Central Queensland Bowen Basin.
"This will be all encompassing for big and small operators alike, coal seam gas companies, research organisations and experts from universities including CQUniversity Australia," said Joan Esterle, University of Queensland Professor and Chair of Coal Geoscience.

CQUniversity was among 384 institutions from 82 countries participating in the recent European Association International Education Conference at Nantes in France (Sept 15-18).
EAIE is the single most important exhibition and conference in Europe for international education and Ewa Solecka-Drew, CQUniversity International Manager for Europe, attended on behalf of the University (as one of 3642 participants spread across 1700 m2 of exhibition space).

CQUniversity's Associate Professor Peter Reaburn recently handed over a cheque for $750 to the Sporting Wheelies association on behalf of the Bike 4 Life organising committee.
The inaugural Bike for Life event took place in August and was in support of the Amy Gillet Foundation and the Capricornia Sporting Wheelies, an organisation that is committed to enhancing the lives of people with disabilities.

Leaving her home on the Black Sea coast of Russia, Elena Churilova came to Australia as a single mother with her young son and was grateful to get any job to start with.
She started out working at a truck centre and is now a vegetation officer for the State Government.
