Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

  • Mackay helps students stay in 'the zone'

    Mackay Campus has overcome the setback of flooded carpeting earlier this year to create a fresh and funky Library reading and relaxation area - now known as 'The Zone'.

    Artwork for the walls and floor was provided by Master of Contemporary Arts students and staff from the University of Tasmania, who are using Mackay Campus as a base.

    About 300 contenders from across 5 states were vying for gold during the 5-day competition which ends this Saturday.

    Professor Paul Rodan, BA(Hons) WAust, MA Qld, PhD Monash, is the Director of CQUniversity's Intercultural Education Research Institute. Previously, he was the Director, Academic Policy & Research for the Australian International Campuses of CQUniversity, prior to which he held senior academic positions at the Melbourne International Campus, including Deputy Director (Academic) and Sub-Dean of the Faculty of Business & Law.

  • Tough journey for families of children with lymphoma

    A CQUniversity study has shown that families of children suffering from lymphoma face unique challenges that potentially make it more difficult to cope with the treatment experience than most.

    According to the International Program of Psycho-Social Health Research (IPP-SHR) Senior Research Fellow Dr Pam McGrath, up until now there has been a shortage of information about the unique psycho-social experiences of these patients and their families.
