Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

    After a hugely successful apprenticeship with Comalco, where he is still employed, the 27-year-old has begun a Bachelor of Engineering/Bachelor of Business degree via distance education through Nulloo Yumbah, CQU's Centre for Indigenous Learning, Spirituality and Research in Rockhampton, Queensland.

    Former Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music student Kristin Berardi has just returned home to Australia after a recording and performance visit to the 'big apple'.

    After moving to Brisbane half-way through her Bachelor of Music degree at CQCM, Kristin completed her studies at Griffith Conservatorium in 2001.

    When I walk on a beach, especially an Australian beach, I sometimes find myself thinking, ‘Gee there’s an awful lot of sand on this little beach – in fact there’s so many sand particles on this gorgeous little beach, I’d never be able to count up the number of sand crystals in just one cubic metre even if I devoted a whole week to the task, let alone the whole beach headland to headland!.

    A couple of years ago I heard something that a cosmologist said about beaches that staggered me.
