- Sydney Campus team gets behind Relay for Life

CQUniversity Sydney participated in the inaugural Eastern Suburbs Relay For Life which was held over the weekend of May 16-17 at Sydney's beautiful Centennial Park.
Relay For Life is a fun, outdoor and overnight fundraising event where teams of 10 to 15 people take turns walking or running around a local oval over a 24 hour period to raise funds for cancer research, education, support services and advocacy.

With 2009 being the Year of Creativity, CQUniversity's Bachelor of Learning Management (Early Childhood) students recently showcased ways that creative thinking can be nurtured in the home environment, using common experiences.
This initiative was part of last week's Child and Family Community Fun Day and Expo held in Bundaberg.

Qantas pilot Perry McNeil has been doing a bit of moonlighting as he approaches the age of 50 and prepares to retire from the aviation industry.
He's been dabbling as a guest lecturer for high school aviation classes at Brisbane and the Gold Coast, and he's been working as a 737 trainer for Boeing.

Engineering graduate Chanelle Harvey has expressed pride in her 'runner-up' placement, during the recent South Pacific round of the Present Around the World competition.
Competitors were required to present their final-year engineering thesis to an audience and panel of judges assembled in New Zealand, vying to compete in the United Kindgom for the world title.

CQUniversity has renewed its commitment for delivery of degrees in Singapore and is once again actively recruiting students, to start from Term 2 this year.
The University had in recent years wound down its Singapore operations (into teach-out mode) due to changing priorities of its previous education agency.

Engagement with people and organisations who are making a difference in the community is the key for social science, according to departing research leader Stewart Lockie.
Professor Lockie, who will take up a post as Professor of Sociology at Australian National University in June, said this engagement was vital in terms of maintaining relevance and translating social critique into positive change.
