To receive a standing ovation is not unfamiliar for Mark Gasser, renowned English concert pianist and Conservatorium lecturer, but for CQUniversity Mackay music student, Sarah Regan, this accolade marked her professional debut at a recent recital at St Matthew's Church, Albury, last month.

Sarah accompanied Mark Gasser when invited to perform the opening recital of the Albury Festival in NSW (a festival of music engaging world class musicians).

Two teams from Rockhampton Grammar School and two from North Bundaberg State High School each visited their local CQUniversity campus this week (Thursday, Oct 16) to compete in the national finals of the Australian National Chemical Analysis Competition.

These teams earned their place in the national finals by gaining a top-four finish in the CQ Regional Titration Competition earlier this year.

Researchers recently (Oct 15) gathered at a Rockhampton forum to report progress in finding the best ways to combat the 'river weed menace'  hymenachne.

Members of the National Hymenachne Management Group, including the National Coordinator, also attended.

Bundaberg region students will be able to ‘Get SET' for their career early on thanks to a new initiative from CQUniversity.

The central idea behind Get SET is to align a student, an employer, and a university degree before the student leaves school.

CQUniversity has welcomed major national research grants in the areas of agri-food networks, networked control systems and strategies to combat lung infections.

Associate Professor Stewart Lockie has gained $147,000 from the Australian Research Council (ARC) to fund work on the social and environmental implications of privately-regulated food quality standards for agri-food networks in the Asia-Pacific.
