Idiom 23 Magazine Board member Dr Lynda Hawryluk announced the winners of this year's Bauhinia Literary Awards at the 'Arts Reloaded' event last week.
Judges remarked on the high quality of entries this year in both story and poetry sections.

Seasoned research grant recipient Santina Bertone travelled from Victoria University to CQUniversity Rockhampton to inspire participants in a recent Faculty retreat for research higher degree candidates.
Associate Professor Bertone has received 47 competitive research grants totalling $1,360,002, including ARC grants, across her study areas including migrants, gender and immigration policy.

Seasoned singer Seaman Dan turns 80 this year and the co-producer of his CDs - Dr Karl Neuenfeldt from CQUniversity Bundaberg - reckons he's well and truly on his victory lap.
On top of his Jimmy Little Lifetime Achievement Award for Contribution to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Music - announced at the 2009 Deadly Awards on October 16 - Seaman has also picked up his second ARIA Award (Best World Music Album) for his latest CD recording Sailing Home.

Queensland Police flagged down 299 people to help raise the awareness of the growing death toll on Queensland roads this week.
The Flash Mob gathered at the CQUniversity Rockhampton baseball field in a performance art stunt that represented each person that has died on Queensland roads this year.
