- Con artists help make Cheap Fakes a musical reality

The Brisbane-based Cheap Fakes band is about to turn its live music acclaim into recording success, with help from four members who've studied at CQUniversity's Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music in Mackay.
Drummer and percussionist Damian Campbell says his time at the Conservatorium helped prepare him for a career in a working band.

CQUniversity music students had the chance to perform with and learn from professional Army Band musicians who were visiting the region this week.
The Townsville-based Band of the 1st Battalion The Royal Australian Regiment spent a day on Rockhampton Campus for workshops, performances and networking with students enrolled in our Bachelor of Music degree.

Cyclists of all ages are encouraged to take part in the Bike4Life on Sunday August 1.
Starting and finishing at CQUniversity Sports Centre, Bike4Life is a community cycling event which is geared to raise funds and awareness for the Sporting Wheelies and the Amy Gillett Foundation - a bike safety organisation.

CQUniversity's Professor Richard Clegg recently returned from the Fourth International Conference on Engineering Failure Analysis.
Professor Clegg, Director of the Process Engineering and Light Metals Centre in Gladstone, is the Editor in Chief of the journal, Engineering Failure Analysis, and was co-chair of the conference, with Colin Gagg from the Open University in the UK.
