It was a special occasion for two Central Queensland University families last month when their son and daughter were wed.

Matthew Davis and Nicole Cardnell, just married on Saturday September 17, have strong ties with the University with both their sets of parents being employees at the Rockhampton campus and both having graduated with CQU degrees last year.

Top Australian engineering researchers and rail industry personnel joined forces at CQU Rockhampton last Friday, October 7, as part of a world-leading Rail CRC research project set to save the Australian rail industry millions of dollars through the development of new fail-safe braking technology.

Incorporating technology developed by Professor Peter Wolfs and his team at CQU, the project is expected to deliver the rail industry a new fail-safe braking product at a fraction of the cost of modern electronic brake systems on the international market.

The National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) has approved a prestigious fellowship for CQU scholar, Dr Pam McGrath.

Professor Li Xungui spent most of last week at CQU under the CHUAS Program, which enables Chinese university leaders to ‘shadow’ their counterparts at Australian universities to diversify their skills and also to seek opportunities for collaboration with Australian universities.

A new science fiction encyclopaedia has been published featuring entries by Melbourne Postgraduate Programs Facilitator Dr Tris Kerslake.

The Greenwood Encyclopedia of Science Fiction and Fantasy contains 600 topics with contributions from 150 experts in the genre.

About 50 international students attended a Going Home Ceremony last Wednesday, at Central Queensland University Rockhampton.
