Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

    Lecturer with the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music (CQCM), Kim Kirkman will be leading the festivities in Mackay’s largest carols event, this Saturday December 10, from 5pm at Caneland’s Park.

  • CQU continues sponsorship of cycling classic

    CQU has confirmed it will continue as the major sponsor of the Rockhampton Cup on Wheels, the two-day cycling spectacular run by the Rockhampton Cycling Club.

    The event will held at the Kenrick Tucker Velodrome, Rockhampton, on January 20-21.

  • Export win 'remarkable' for CQ-based university

    Central Queensland University's win at the Australian Export Awards (Dec 1, 2005) was remarkable considering it is based in a regional area.

    That is according to CQU Vice-Chancellor Professor John Rickard (pictured below) who accepted the Australian Education International Education Award from Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade Mark Vaile in Sydney at a gala dinner.

  • Vieth co-author of new cinema dictionary

    CQU's Dr Errol Vieth (pictured), from the School of Contemporary Communication, is co-author of the newly-released Historical Dictionary of Australian and New Zealand Cinema, published internationally by Scarecrow Press.

    The dictionary was co-authored by InfoCom's Associate Dean Research Dr Errol Vieth and Albert Moran of Griffith University.
