Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

    A clinical placement at Woorabinda Hospital is among the current highlights list for 2 Canadian nursing students who are on exchange at CQU Rockhampton this year.

    Christine Simpson and Nicole Kelly say they have learnt a lot from their "unique experience of buzzing around" at Woorabinda, where they were made to feel very welcome.

  • Recent CQU graduate wins Australian Graduate Nurse of the Year

    A recent graduate of CQU, Angie Tonner, has been named as the Australian Graduate Nurse of the Year, after being chosen from a field of nurses nominated from around Australia.

    Mrs Tonner's award was announced at the HESTA Australian Nurse Awards in Melbourne on Friday evening (May 18) during a ceremony hosted by Mel and Kochie from Sunrise and presented by the HESTA Super Fund.

    The worthy graduates accepted the prestigious award at the Sydney International Graduate Campus Graduation ceremony held at the Sydney Town Hall earlier this month.

  • CQU's new Noosa Hub supports teaching and nursing students

    Central Queensland University has established a new Noosa Hub to support its students living on the Sunshine Coast.

    The new Hub, in the Noosaville Professional Centre in Goodchap Street, replaces CQU's previous Noosa Hub in the grounds of Cooroora Secondary College in Pomona.

    Sarah Jackson is looking forward to receiving her Bachelor of Business (Advanced Human Resource Management) in front of family and friends at the CQU Gladstone graduation ceremony on May 24 at the Gladstone Entertainment Centre.

    "My fiancé Iain is very proud, he was the one pushing me along to get it finished," says Ms Jackson.
