Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

  • 40 international students farewell Rocky

    About 40 CQU international students attended a going home ceremony in Rockhampton on Wednesday October 3.

    Students involved in the ceremony have come from the UK, Japan, India, Taiwan, Korea, China, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Philippines, Kenya, Canada and Ireland.

    Sarfraz Ahemadhusain Malvi is the winner of the Melbourne Campus Term 2' 07 online Student Opinion Survey competition which was conducted recently.

    He was randomly selected after filling out the survey which investigates student levels of satisfaction with the services and support provided at CQU-MIC.

    A hot but not-too-bothered BiPolar Bears band helped staff and students relax at CQU Rockhampton on Friday (October 5).

    Facilities staff erected a shade structure to help the 'Bears' maintain their high-energy in the glare of the scorching Spring sunshine.

    A total of 105 graduates are due to attend CQU's Singapore graduation ceremony, from 7pm on Tuesday November 6  at the Swissôtel Merchant Court Hotel ballroom.

    The graduates are from all faculties of the University.

  • Alumnus trained among Gore's climate crew

    CQU alumnus and former staff member Natalie Hatch was selected to be trained as a Climate Project Presenter along with 169 others from around Australia and surrounding countries.

    The workshops were held in Melbourne from September 21-23, with former American Vice-President Al Gore in attendance.

    Award-winning journalism student Hannah Gardner graduated with a double bachelor degree in Business and Professional Communication recently.

    The former St Ursula's College student was named the Telstra Countrywide Media Awards Journalism Student of the Year during her degree.
