- Qian has the IT factor for student learning

CQU Melbourne Information Systems senior lecturer Dr David Qian not only teaches IT but he also has the IT factor for student learning.
He has recently been awarded the Vice-Chancellor's Award for Early Career Teacher of the Year (in a dual award with Liz Sidiropoulos, also from CQU Melbourne).
- CQU tests preparedness for major crisis

Senior officials and key staff from across Central Queensland University participated in a 4-hour simulated crisis this week to test CQU's preparedness for on-campus emergencies and critical incidents.
The mock exercise, which was conducted by a leading crisis management expert, involved members of the CQU Crisis Management and Recovery Team and staff posing as students, staff, emergency services, media and external stakeholders.

A sod-turning ceremony will be held this Friday (Feb 29) at the Pineapple Patch to mark the beginning of construction of the Yeppoon-Fitzroy pipeline.
This project will end the coastal community's reliance on water from the Sandy and Waterpark Creeks in the Byfield area.

As many as 600 new students will be able to participate in the official Orientation Week (O Week) activities in Rockhampton from Tuesday February 26.
On-campus orientation begins Tuesday February 26 until Thursday February 28.

More than 40 high school students from across Australia, including the Northern Territory and New South Wales, will begin studying courses through Central Queensland University (CQU) while still in school this year.
Many of these students attended university orientation sessions this weekend at CQU campuses.

CQU's Dr Nanjappa Ashwath is among only 20 candidates in the world to gain a Rotary Teaching Scholarship for 2008* .
The scholarship will enable a 3-month tour of India (from Nov 08 to Jan 09) to show how Australian plants can help remediate degraded land and produce essential requirements of life such as animal feed and fuel wood.
