Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

    CQU Brisbane business/marketing graduate Tommy Tjokro is now an anchor for Indonesia's Metro TV and recently hosted a gala dinner in Jakarta for alumni of Australian universities.

    Mr Tjorko joined Metro TV in 2003 after gaining broadcast experience as a radio host for Brisbane's Radio 4EB.

    Central Queensland University has offered to pay registration fees for staff and student teams involved in Rockhampton's Relay for Life event in May.

    Relay for Life - a major fundraiser for The Cancer Council Queensland - will be hosted by CQU on May 17-18 this year.

      Central Queensland University's first-year Emerald students attended Orientation on Wednesday February 27 to get to know the campus and its staff before classes start on March 3.

      Students studying the STEPS program, and those starting a Bachelor of Business/Accounting and a Bachelor of Learning Management attended the Orientation day.
