- Students Urged to Party Safely

Year 12 students in the Mackay, Moranbah and Whitsunday areas are being urged to party responsibly, especially with "Schoolies" just around the corner.
Queensland Government departments of Health, Police, Communities and Transport have partnered together with CQ University and the Whitsunday Schoolies Committee to promote safety messages to senior school students.

CQUniversity Emerald Campus celebrated the 2009 STEPS (Skills for Tertiary Education Preparatory Studies) Completion Ceremony on Wednesday 14th October.
Students were presented with their Completion Certificates by Karen Seary, Director of Studies, Academic Learning Services and Division of Library and Academic LearningServices.

On Monday 12th October Bundaberg Campus held a ceremony for 102 graduating STEPS (Skills for Tertiary Education Preparatory Studies) students, affectionately known as "STEPPIES". Over 120 family & friends of the students attended the event with special guests including Head of CQUniversity Bundaberg, Professor Phillip Clift and Mayor, Councillor Lorraine Pyefinch.

Sharon Marshall recently graduated from CQ University's STEPS (Skills for Tertiary Education Preparatory Studies) Program, winning the Gladstone Regional Council Bursary a well.
Sharon, from a "working family" enjoyed school, however, falling in with the wrong crowd distracted her from study, and eventually she left to work and travel around Australia.

Diane Goldsworthy's background in nursing, with a focus on community health, led to her developing an interest in allergies and immunology. That, combined with a chance meeting with a Central Queensland grazier who'd had a nasty experience with the weed, resulted in her pursuing research on Parthenium hysterophorus.
