The first-ever Opal Awards for community engagement were announced and the category winners were the Choices Applied Theatre Project team (Judith Brown, Lisa McKay, Sean Perez and Katelyn Ryan) based at Mackay Campus, Surya Bhattarai's Make That Water Work project based in Rockhampton and Bundaberg's MIST Conference project (Wendy Fasso, Marg Flanders and Rosie Thrupp).
