Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

    Central Queensland University’s Primary Industries Research Centre (Plant Sciences) and the Centre for Environmental Management are now located in building 7 at CQU Rockhampton.

    Building 7 is now officially known as the Thozet Building, after a naming ceremony took place this week.

    The audience was exposed to 14 of the boldest and irreverent new Australian short films dealing with topics such as personal hygiene, euthansia, dirt bugs, kidnapping, air guitaring, thieves, sex and karaoke, in what was a hilarious evening.

    The initiative has been co-ordinated by the CQU Mackay-based Queensland Centre for the Prevention of Domestic (QCPDFV), the Department of Families and statewide domestic and family violence networks.
