The information technology sector's continuing need for skilled employees has been given top priority by CQUniversity and the Mackay Information Technology Network (MITN).
The University and industry representative group this week (March 31) signed a Memorandum of Understanding at Mackay Campus to address skills shortages in the information technology sector.

Bundaberg's Janita Chapman left an admin job at Q-Build years ago to care for her young family but now has a renewed interest in developing a fresh career in business.
She thanks support from CQUniversity, the Faculty of Arts, Business, Informatics and Education, the Tertiary Entry Program run by the University's Indigenous Centre (Nulloo Yumbah) and an Indigenous Business Australia scholarship for keeping her focused on her Accounting/Business degree.

It's been 8 years since Steven Bradbury won Olympic gold in the 1000m Short Course Speed Skating final at Salt Lake City, but he'll always be known as the guy who kept to the rear in the Olympic final - on the last corner his competitors collided and he skated through the pile-up to take out the gold.
"Have you ever heard the saying, ‘Doing a Bradbury'? Well you can use it," Steve said.

The whole community is the eventual winner, when thousands of dollars worth of prizes and scholarships support talented students through their degrees.
That's according to CQUniversity's Donor Prize and Scholarship Coordinator Melissa Misztal, who has coordinated a presentation evening at Rockhampton Campus (Wednesday March 31) to bring donors and recipients together for mutual acknowledgement.

Gladstone's Sonya Kennedy, Barcaldine's Paige Hauff and Rockhampton's Daniel Kovac started their relationship with CQUniversity while still at school and got a feel for the Rockhampton Campus through an Access and Support Program.
The recent school leavers were encouraged to apply for an Accommodation Scholarship, which enables them to stay at Capricornia College for the duration of their degree.
