Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

    Bundaberg’s Jeff Davie is one of only four Australians, and the only Queenslander, this year to become an airforce Nursing Officer by gaining a RAAF nursing scholarship.

    The scholarship offers Jeff guaranteed employment in the field of nursing and also makes it possible for him to enter his desired field of aeromedical evacuation upon completion of his nursing studies at CQU Bundaberg, due at the end of 2006.

    Dozens of Year 10 students from throughout Queensland have converged on Rockhampton this week (August 22-26) to attend an arts, science and health camp.

    CQU hosted the four-day camp incorporating workshops in the fields of social and welfare work, psychology, nursing, health studies, humanities, human movement science and occupational health and safety.

    Division of Facilities Management employees are still hard at work with the final ‘pull down’ of the CQ Multicultural Fair and CQU Open Day.

    The event is a huge part of the Facilities calendar, taking a number of weeks to prepare the site and now close to two weeks to pull down the structures and fix any maintenance problems caused by the day.
