Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

    Terrorists out in the open; CQU study finds extensive use of the web among international terrorist groups Terrorist groups that use the Internet as a means of transmitting propaganda, raising cash, recruiting new members and communicating with their activists have been identified by two researchers at Central Queensland University.

    A study by CQU Professor Alan Knight and post-graduate researcher Kasun Ubayasiri reveals five of 33 groups listed by the US State Department as "foreign terrorist organizations" which operate extensive websites.

The seminar, presented by the Office of Research, the Postgraduate Student Organisation, and the CQU Student Association promises to be “totally engaging” according to Mark Walters, Education Officer at the Student Association Kruszelnicki has been popularising science in one form or another since he first presented on radio station Triple J in 1981 to help pay his way through medical school.

    Conservatorium beefed-up for moosic Members of the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music will be 'artistic directors' for the 'opening ceremony' of the Beef 2003 programme in April/May in Rockhampton.

    Associate Professor Greg Whateley, Director of the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music, announced a $70,000 grant had been secured and that Marc Barnbaum will serve as Executive Producer on the project.

    Reconciliation Statement to be signed next month Representatives from Central Queensland University (CQU), the Darumbal people and Murri community are expected to sign a Reconciliation Statement on 11 August following the opening of the 10th annual Central Queensland Multicultural Fair.

    CENTRAL Queensland University (CQU) began its 2002 Northern University Games campaign with a win from the men’s volleyball team at the Gold Coast on Monday.

    They beat Bond University by three sets to one after losing the first set before they found some rhythm and co-ordination.
