Central Queensland University (CQU) is among 32 recipients of the inaugural Peter Doherty Awards for Excellence in Science and Science Education handed out Thursday at the Old Queensland Government House.
Dr Col Greensill, from the James Goldston Faculty of Engineering and Physical Systems, accepted $2500 on behalf of his Faculty for the work it has done to advance science education.

An information evening was held at Central Queensland University Gladstone campus on Wednesday night for people interested in studying in 2005.

More than 200 local primary school children attended the CQU Bundaberg Brainwaves festival to celebrate National Science Week.
This years Brainwaves Festival provided a range of activities centred around the National Science Week themes of Sport, Space & the Environment according to CQU Bundaberg Faculty of Arts Health & Sciences Sub-Dean , Desirae Kirby.

CQU\'s Associate Prof Manicka Dhanasekar and Dr Koon Wong are the chosen recipients the R W Chapman Medal for year 2003, which have recently been announced.
This award, from the Institution of Engineers Australia, is presented to \"author of a recently published learned paper judged to have made an important contribution to the science and/or practice of structural engineering\".

The Burnett Mary Regional Group (BMRG) has commissioned the Centre for Environmental Management, Central Queensland University, to develop a strategic plan and prioritised actions for community based monitoring and management of freshwater, estuarine and coastal water environments in the Burnett Basin.
The project, already underway, will consider the capacity of the Burnett regional community and, in consultation with community members, develop an appropriate strategy and prioritised projects to be pursued over the next few years.
