Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

    Central Queensland University Nulloo Yumbah director William Oates said Mr Wootten would deliver the first address in the centre's Annual Lecture series.

    CQU's Dr Alan Harrison has gained the Early Career Research Award, presented by America's National Association for Research in Science Teaching (NARST).

    The award was presented this month (April) at NARST's annual meeting in New Orleans, which attracted 850 delegates from around the world.

    Flavio Coelho, a postgraduate student in the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Systems at the Gladstone Campus, has received international recognition for a paper he presented to the International Conference on ISO9000 and TQM.

    Voting covering all sessions and all delegates voted the paper as the best in Flavio's stream.
