Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

    CQUniversity's International Program of Psycho-Social Health Research* (IPP-SHR) has launched an extension to its podcast series, aimed at giving researchers, students and the wider community a valuable look 'behind the scenes' of psycho-social health research.

    IPP-SHR has published over 100 podcasts of interviews with researchers about psycho-social issues from birth to bereavement, across all diagnostic groups.

  • Mackay midwifery lecturer in demand for national education projects

    CQUniversity Mackay-based lecturer and midwife Anne Eaton has been 'in demand' this year, contributing to three nationally-recognised education groups. 

    Ms Eaton, a registered nurse/midwife, has been involved with lecturing for CRANA Plus, the peak professional body for health practitioners working in remote and isolated areas.

  • Language Centre hosts Thai teens

    Twenty-seven talkative Thai teens and their guide have been enjoying a visit to Rockhampton region, where they have been based at CQUniversity's English Language Centre from April 22-May 10.

    Thanks to their Universal Cultural Exchange program, they have been balancing campus-based language classes and creative activities with opportunities to visit school rooms and mingle with students at Glenmore High and Yeppoon High.

    The scholarship is available to a CQUniversity student who displays a keen interest in developing a career in web design and who is currently enrolled in their second year or in the start of their third year of a Bachelor of Multimedia degree.
