Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

    The production has been directed by one of Australia's music theatre leading ladies, Chloe Dallimore, who has been an industry mentor to the University's Bachelor Music Theatre students.

    Abdul Nasir, from the United Arab Emirates, looks back with fond memories of CQUniversity.

    After commencing in 2005, Nasir recently completed his final assessment for the Bachelor of Aviation Technology (BAT) at CQUniversity's Bundaberg campus, making him the first international student to graduate from the program via Bundaberg.

    The Australian resources sector stands to benefit from the race to produce a clean coal plant in either Queensland or New South Wales, according to CQUniversity researcher and Mining Program director Colin Greensill.

    He said Australia exports a lot of coal and it is in our interest to export the solution as well.
