Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

  • Jazz fans can flock 'down by the Riverside'

    CQUniversity and ABC Radio Capricornia will present Jazz at the Riverside, in Rockhampton's Riverside Park, from 2pm-4pm on Sunday May 30.

    The free show will feature one of Australia's leading saxophonists Graham Jesse* with the CQUni Jazz Orchestra and other jazz and contemporary music ensembles from the Bachelor of Music program based in Rockhampton.

    The Bachelor of Learning Management students aligned the activities with the nationally-celebrated Early Childhood Australia - Under 8s Week theme of 'Think Globally, Act Locally'.

  • Callide Mine teams up with Uni to protect tree species

    Anglo American Metallurgical Coal has teamed up with CQUniversity to research a rare tree species found at Callide Mine near Biloela.

    Callide Mine Environmental Coordinator Sally Bulten said Callide Mine was offering a tax-free PhD scholarship and research support for studies on the biology and conservation of the threatened plant, Quassia bidwillii.
