Robotics is breaking into mainstream curriculum in Queensland schools thanks to a push from a Bundaberg university lecturer and the State Government.
CQUniversity Education lecturer Dr Rosie Thrupp has backed the Government's (Office of Advanced Manufacturing) K-12 Robotics Program by introducing pre-service teachers to robotics as part of their teaching studies.

National President of Engineers Australia Professor Doug Hargreaves visited Rockhampton this week to present a challenge - how does Australia stretch its capacity to cope with the 35 million people expected in the population by 2050.
The distinguished visitor addressed 60 participants, stressing that a larger population will demand increases in power, water, food and infrastructure, stretching the innovative capacity of the engineering profession.

CQUniversity is the joint organiser and a major sponsor for next year's International Engineering and Technology Education Conference (IETEC), to be held in Kuala Lumpur from January 16-19.

CQUniversity Rockhampton staff had fun exploring new technologies that are challenging traditional formats for education, communication and business, at a hands-on workshop conducted by ITD last week.
Sample ipads and iphones were loaned to audience members so they could get a feel for how students might be interacting in the classroom in the not too distant future.

A total of 236 graduates from 28 nations are due to attend CQUniversity's graduation ceremony at Sydney Town Hall, from 2pm on Thursday, September 9.
They'll hear from guest speaker Emeritus Professor Alan Knight, who can draw on four decades as a top journalist and academic to shape his address.

CQUniversity this week hosted a visit by senior academics from Thailand's Naresuan University.
The visitors included Dr Sujinda Chemsripong, Dean of the faculty of Management and Information Science, Dr Wachira Punpairoj, Head of School of Business Administration, and Wasin Liampreecha, a senior staff member of that school.
