Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

    It was co-produced by Karl Neuenfeldt, Associate Professor in the School of Humanities and Communication at the CQUniversity Bundaberg Campus.

  • Uni trials fresh approach for kids at risk of becoming anti-social

    CQUniversity will deliver and evaluate a newly developed intervention for children and young people considered at risk for long-term anti-social outcomes.

    Starting in October, the University's Professor of Clinical Psychology Kevin Ronan will lead the first 12 months of a proposed 4-year program for youth in the Rockhampton region.

    Following recent sporting activities catering for table tennis lovers, badminton enthusiasts, and cricket lovers, CQUniversity Melbourne held its first basketball day at Balwyn Sports and Leisure centre.

    For two hours students shot hoops with differing levels of success, beginning with a full court game involving all students in attendance.

  • Dr Wendy Davis awarded RAAS Early Career Fellowship

    Dr Wendy Davis has been awarded one of CQUniversity's Research Advancement Award Scheme Early Career Fellowships for 2010.

    The fellowship begins in June 2010 for a period of 2 years and will focus on developing her research on the television mockumentary that was begun in her PhD.

    On Tuesday 6th October Bundaberg Campus Education students presented their final assessment pieces for evaluation at the Professional Skills display, a 10 week project in the final year of the Bachelor of Learning Management. Students must address a priority that has been identified by industry bodies and create a solution.
