Aussie actor, author and CQUniversity alumnus William McInnes was among a group of distinguished people honoured during the Rockhampton Graduation Ceremony on Tuesday evening (Feb 16)
William was also guest speaker for the event, which recognised 220 graduates. The former Arts student of the early 1980s shared the stage with 3 other honorary awardees: nursing stalwart Norma West OBE, renowned Engineering educator Elizabeth Taylor AO and leading scientist, educator, veterinary administrator and practitioner Oskar Stünzner (also an Alumnus).

Korean students visiting the Central Queensland Institute of TAFE (CQIT) were treated to a tour of CQUniversity's engineering facilities in Rockhampton this week.
The Ulsan College (South Korea) students are in Australia for a 4-week study tour, studying at the TAFE campus in Rockhampton.
- VC's forum pioneers dual-stream videoconference

When CQUniversity's Vice-Chancellor stepped up for his first videoconferenced staff forum for 2010 this week (Feb 18), he was helping to pioneer a new dual-stream presentation and recording format.
Essentially, the format enables presenters and their materials, for example powerpoints or videos, to be seen simultaneously across the participating campus sites.

Seventeen-year-old Jesc Forrester has already shown off his prodigious talent across a range of areas and CQUniversity's SUN (Start Uni Now) program has been a valuable proving ground.
While still at Gin Gin High School, Jesc gained a high distinction and distinction across 2 subjects in the Bachelor of Aviation degree and he is continuing as a BAT student while he seeks an apprenticeship as a diesel, aviation or vehicle mechanic.

- CQ scientist backs call for action to avert threat to food production

CQUniversity researcher Professor David Midmore has backed an assertion that rural research is at a cross roads and agrees urgent action is needed to avert an imminent threat to food production in Australia.
The assertion has come from Geoff Thomas, National President of the Australian Institute of Agricultural Science and Technology (AIAST), who said this was a matter of national security.

Teachers, students and international artists planning the arts and new media project (part of the regional ‘TreeLine' project) gathered at CQUniversity's facility in the Noosa Medical & Professional Centre at 90 Goodchap Street in Noosaville.
