Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

    After suffering from a fractured neck at the world championships back in January, Anna's Olympic chances were unknown until the early hours of Saturday morning when China and Russia's hopefuls bombed out in the women's sprint leaving a spot for Anna in Beijing.

    Ms Warkill, a 41-year-old mother of 3, has just graduated with a double degree in Business and Professional Communication, making her husband Evan and the Rockhampton South Sea Islander community extremely proud.

    Tracey, 21, is among 20 Miss World Australia finalists who will take centre stage next week to find out who will represent the nation in the Ukraine later in the year.

    CQU researcher Dr Tamara van Polanen Petel has offered tips to protect shorebirds in the Burnett Mary region, based on her current studies in that area.

    The Centre for Environmental Management representative said shorebirds (waders) live on shores of beaches, rivers, and dams.

  • Help needed for former student

    Friends and family of former Central Queensland University student Kanwarjeet Singh are seeking donations so he can receive potentially life-saving treatment in the United States.

    The 26-year-old is suffering from Acute Myeloid Leukaemia, a form of blood cancer, and needs a particular bone marrow transplant that in not available in his home country of India.

    CQU Brisbane International Campus students, along with their friends and families, enjoyed some of the wildest rides and attractions on the Gold Coast during a visit to Dreamworld recently.

    Students enjoyed everything from the latest rides and special effects to aquatic wonders and even feeding native wildlife in natural surroundings!

    The brave ones screamed themselves silly on The Big 6 Thrill Rides, the tallest fastest thrill rides in the world including Cyclone Rollercoaster, Wipeout, Tower of Terror, Giant Drop, The Claw and the newest and hottest thrill ride, the Motocoaster, while the younger ones met the Nickelodeon stars including the Rugrats, Blues Clues, SpongeBob SquarePants and lots more.
